A two-minute classroom reset
Square breathing is what kids in our books use when big feelings get loud. Put Bob on the projector, breathe together, then back to the lesson.
Lead it in 30 seconds
- STEP ONE
“Eyes on Bob. Feet flat. We’ll breathe like a square.”
- STEP TWO
Breathe out loud with them for four rounds. Your voice sets the pace.
- STEP THREE
“Thumbs up if your body feels quieter.” Then straight back into the lesson.
Who are the fish and the shrimp?
The Goby Fish and the Candy Cane Shrimp: two real reef animals who live in symbiosis, working together harmoniously. Bob and Long Neck Lisa meet them on a scuba diving trip in A Deep Dive into Friendship, and watching the pair is what teaches them to respect one another.
Lisa’s neck is long and Bob’s head is big. This unlikely duo are paired for a unique scuba diving trip, much to their dismay. Once underwater, they face adversity and help one another.
Inspired by a real scuba diving experience, the lesson is one we can all learn from: help one another and learn from nature. No matter our differences, it is important to grow together.
Because we are all unique, and it’s important to embrace that. To respect one another is to respect ourselves. Keep breathing, and let them swim by.
